Rocky Mountain Adventure, Estes Park, CO13 year old Signe, is impugning an aggregation of myriad maladies, including Cerebellar Ataxia, Dysautonomia, Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC), and Retracting Epilepsy, had a desire for a wilderness horseback riding Adventure.
Away to the Rocky Mountains clear
To see Elk and Moose and Deer
Maybe ride a horse or two
And see a friendly ghost say “Boo”
September 13
Signe, her family and nurse all stayed at the YMCA of the Rockies, in a 3 Bedroom Vacation Home.
A requiescence assuagement thanks to Dan DeBlasio, Emily Pullen and the YMCA of the Rockies, for donating a 4 Day Vacation Rental Package, and a $150 Food & Activities Voucher, to Brave Young Hearts for our Adventure girl, Signe!!!
This is through the YMCA G.R.A.C.E – Giving Respite and Comfort to Everyone Program!!
September 14
Wilderness Horseback Ride through Moraine Park in Rocky Mountain National Park.
September 15
Wilderness Horseback Ride to Emerald Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Infelicity & cataclysm, as Signe falls off of her horse and breaks her arm! Sad Bear!
The day is fractured! A Comminuted Fracture to be exact! What a misadventure!
Spent the rest of the day in the ER.
September 16
Now in a cast, but not castigated, Signe enjoys the Ghost Tour at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park to finish out her Adventure! Resilient, and determined!! She ain’t afraid of no ghosts!
Brave Young Hearts would like to remind everyone that Outdoor Adventures carry a level of risk normally. When a child with a life-threatening disease embarks on the same Adventure the risk can be elevated. We were shocked and saddened that Signe broke her arm, and wish her a speedy recovery!
Note:
Brave Young Hearts set up the horseback riding through a stable company, that we do not wish to name. YMCA of the Rockies had no role in the horseback riding portion of this Adventure.
