    Mountain Escape, Winter Park, CO

9 year old Andalyn, crusades against Intestinal Failure & TPN Induced Liver Disease.
Andalyn’s Adventure request was for activities such as: archery, rock climbing, mini-golf, swimming, arts & crafts and mostly just to get away from doctors!

The colors of fall, high up in the hills
Off to Winter Park, can you feel the chills?
Archery and a rock climbing wall, Andalyn will do
Maybe see some wildlife, it’s better than a zoo

A visit to Snow Mountain, sans all that pesky snow
Bring your coat, warm you’ll be , even aglow
And yet this autumn, don’t fret, you can swim
You’ll be so excited, you’ll sing out a hymn

Enjoy your time away, your mountain retreat
Lovely colors will be, on your hands and your feet!
A mani, a pedi, oh the things that await you
The eminence of hinterland, it’s a hullabaloo!

A mountain decampment thanks to Karl and Maggie Schroll, for greatly discounting their rental fees for the condo at Beaver Village Condominiums, in Winter Park for Andalyn’s stay!! The condo served as a well deserved mountain retreat!

An exertional palisade thanks to MaryAnn Degginger and Snow Mountain Ranch, for partnering with Brave Young Hearts and providing activities such as rock wall climbing, swimming, archery, and arts & cratfs, for our Adventure girl!!

    Andalyn tells her story....."My Adventure
After a bunch of hectic and boring packing, we finally started off. After what felt like 1000000 hours, we finally arrived at the place we were staying. I was delighted to find out the place had Netflix and an Amazon Alexa. We were staying at the Beaver Village Condominiums where we had so much fun. I did things with the Alexa, we played games, and watched movies, and I got a brand new board game from my mom. We went on a short scavenger hunt nature walk one morning as well. We also enjoyed a little shopping for souvenirs, a new toy or two, yummy meals, and a fun new game that we played a lot. We enjoyed awesome food and treats the whole trip! When we went to the YMCA we signed in and decided to play Mini golf first and then try the craft shop. We played both of the courses of the mini golf and we had LOTS OF FUN! We took silly pictures and laughed a lot. After mini golf, we went to the craft shop. We each got to paint a ceramic piece that we could pick up the following day, after it was fired in the kiln. There was a welcome gift waiting for us at the YMCA and we ended up doing so many fun things. We also got to try archery and rock climbing and a mini zipline on a really cool playground area. I also attempted to rollerskate, but wasn't a fan. We got to play ping-pong and fooseball. In addition to the YMCA, we got totally spoiled with manni/pedis one afternoon. They had balloons and flowers waiting for me when we got there. I felt like I was famous! Afterwards, we dropped off mom at the recreation center so she could swim while we went back to the craft shop once more. We did lots of different crafts but my favorite was painting. I painted a picture on a canvas and then I got to paint a wooden lizard that I named Lizzy. I think the the craft shop was everyone's favorite activity!

THANK YOU BRAVE YOUNG HEARTS! WE LOVED OUR TRIP!!!"

What a crazy week! We had 7 appts, laundry, cleaning and packing for our trip. I have been sick all week with bronchitis so that added some challenges but we arrived safe and sound to Winter Park Friday afternoon! We are so thankful to be here for Andalyn's adventure from Brave Young Hearts! We spent Saturday doing some much needed relaxing. It was too cold to go outside for long so we did a little shopping at the local toy store and played some games and watched a movie or two. Joyce and Andalyn took a little nature walk outside while I took a much needed nap. Today is going to be warmer so we are going to go check out the YMCA and see what kind of trouble we can find. Andalyn is needing oxygen up here when she is active (took it off for the pics) but she is doing good with the little tanks. The condo has everything connected to Alexa but she mostly only does what Andalyn tells her to do, which she thinks is hysterical. She is having lots of fun with Alexa playing games and seeing what she can do. Yesterday there may have even been Christmas music played during some of our games.
Mini golfing and arts and crafts today. Had a blast!

Pamper Day atThe Salon at Winter Park
Mani pedis today! Andalyn said that she feels like she is famous because she was spoiled rotten. When we got to the salon there was a huge bunch of balloons and a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for her and they took great care of us. After, Joyce and Andalyn went back to YMCA to do more crafts and I got to enjoy some time at the rec center in the pool and hot tub. Wonderful wonderful day!

A mollycoddled thanks to Kelly McDonald and Megan Danielson, for pampering Andalyn, her Mom and Nurse Joyce!

A procurational thanks to Julie Wagley at the Grocery Guys, for shopping for and delivering the balloons and flowers on behalf of Brave Young Hearts
    …..AND ON TIME!!!

Yesterday was our last day of our adventure. We went to the YMCA for climbing wall, ping pong, archery, playground fun, and even tried rollar skating. The mini zip line on the playground was awesome! When we came back to our condo we made Halloween sugar cookies and then had delicious BBQ for dinner. Home now, safe and sound. What a blessing of a trip! Thank you again Brave Young Hearts for a lot of beautiful memories!
